Brock Protective Padding

Home » Brock Protective Padding

Outside of our athletic field underlayment and flooring categories, Brock foam continues to be used in multiple applications throughout a variety of industries. Brock foam can be found in helmets and kneepads currently being used in the military due to its unique ability to absorb impact, promote airflow, and its durability to maintain its structural integrity throughout the harshest of climates and conditions. Performance-oriented athletic equipment like backpacks, shoulder pads, helmets, and gloves for lacrosse and hockey utilize Brock Foam because it wicks-away perspiration, diffuses impact, and eliminates material weight.

Brock Foam is being utilized in equestrian products, residential and commercial construction materials, automotive seating, outdoor patio seating & office furniture, and medical products. It is virtually unlimited as to where Brock foam can be used in order to create a better product experience.

The World’s Most Advanced Protective Padding

From football helmets to backpacks, Brock Foam provides better insulation from impact and allows for superior air circulation when compared to standard foam pads made from polyethylene or vinyl. Here’s How:

Body Cooling

Brock Foam utilizes a patented polypropylene bead technology that actively circulates air in three dimensions. Essentially, Brocks material composition consists of thousands of individual beads held in place with a durable thermoset adhesive. As the body sweats, the moisture coats the waterproof beads but because Brock Foam is permeable in nature, airflow actively circulates around the bead accelerating evaporation and cooling the body.

The Brock material provides faster sweat evaporation

Impact Absorption

When an impact occurs on a Brock pad, each bead moves the adjacent two beads laterally which diffuses the impact. Friction between the beads turns much of the force into kinetic energy. Multiply this by the thousands of beads in each pad and you have the essence of why Brock absorbs impact better than standard foam pads.

Enhancing Performance

Helmets that feature Brock Protective padding encourage impact absorption

Brock commissioned a study to test our padding versus the traditional padding found in athletic equipment. In a controlled environment, a group of athletes were subject to various strenuous exercises while wearing the different types of pads and then evaluated.

The highlights of the test were:

  • Lower core temperature of athletes wearing Brock pads
  • Reduced skin temperature of athletes wearing Brock pads
  • Lower heart rate for athletes wearing Brock pads
  • Less dehydration in the athletes wearing Brock pads
  • Better recovery time from physical exertion for athletes wearing Brock pads

Overall, both the physical and mental state of the athlete wearing Brock pads was improved when compared to traditional athletic padding. Give your athletes the advantage they need to succeed- use Brock!
