Brock Performance Base™ Performance & Safety

Historically, coaches had to choose performance or safety

Before Brock, there was a choice the field owner had to make: safety or athletic performance. Some synthetic fields were so hard when you ran on them it felt as though you were running on concrete- and issues like head and body injuries were prevalent. On the other hand, those constructed with pads or e-layers felt unnaturally bouncy, or were so soft that you sank into the field with every step- and this altered an athlete’s performance and physiological state.

Why settle for one or the other when you can have both?

What Brock Performance Base offers

  • Advanced Dynamic Response™ or ADR. This property allows Brock to feel firm under foot up to a certain predetermined deflection point. After loads reach this point, the material naturally deflects to absorb the impact and then fully recovers. Thus, with Brock, your athletes feel as though they're playing on a natural grass field but with built-in “give” to cushion collisions on the playing surface.
  • G-max is the ASTM measure used to determine the likelihood of a catastrophic head injury. Brock fields G-max in the mid 90’s when installed under synthetic turf and SBR infill, and that’s lower than E-layers, pads or fields built with a stone base. Athletic fields built with a stone base compact over time making the surface harder and harder and creating higher G-max ratings (A G-max rating at 200 or over may cause serious head injury). Brock consistently G-max’s well below 200 throughout the life of the synthetic field.
  • /attachments/0000/0033/FemaleAthleteHuddle.jpgNegligible changes in surface stiffness. Studies show that changes in surface stiffness by more than 20% are noticeable by athletes. Brock reduces surface stiffness by only 10% compared to a stone base but provide an impact absorbing feature that stone lacks.

Brock Performance Base uniquely offers the best of both worlds in athletic field conditions - a natural feeling fast-and-fun field to run on, and a softer field to fall on. Your athletes deserve to play hard…and land soft!

I will recommend it to our clients on every bid.

As a turf installer,we have used the traditional rock base and have experienced all of the challenges that a typical rock base brings. After using Brock Performance Base, I will recommend it to our clients on every bid. The ease of its use, the cost savings and most importantly the increased safety factors, are all reasons why LA Turf will use Brock again.”
