Being headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, living in harmony with the environment is a way of life- and it’s been a cornerstone of our corporate philosophy from Day One. Brock is constantly studying ways to make our product even friendlier to the environment whether it means changing material composition, manufacturing processes or using recycled materials in our marketing brochures. At Brock, “being green” isn’t a trendy catch phrase, it’s a state of mind.
Building an athletic field with Brock Performance Base is better for the environment than one produced with stone. Here’s why:
Our material is thinner and requires only a two-inch leveling base, That means less land destruction, fewer semi-trucks running back and forth to the job site, and less air and noise pollution in the neighborhood.

We’ve estimated that with fewer trucks required to remove and deliver material, there is an average savings of more than 4,000 gallons of fuel per project when Brock is used.
You don’t have to take our word for this. In a recent independent study by the Rocky Mountain Institute in conjunction with the Athena Institute, Brock Performance Base demonstrated significant environmental benefits over a stone base, including:
Brock material even acts as a water filter as we’ve passed the most stringent water quality tests throughout the US and Europe. Additionally, Brock is a Lead-Free product so it's safe to play on throughout the life of the field.
Our clients are increasingly focused on the environmental impacts
of their projects and the use of “environmentally friendly” products in building an athletic field. That’s why we design fields with Brock Performance Base as an underlayment- construction involves fewer trucks, less fuel consumption, less stress to the neighborhood and fewer days for base construction.”
